Now Playing Tracks

Last night was awkward/awesome!

It’s always awkward going to a smaller speaking event, but I can say from experience that is (almost) always awesome and worth it!

I ended up getting to meet one of the co-founders of reddit, getting a free T, riding on the tour bus, and grabbing a drink with him.

Things that were awkward:
Online meet ups, but it was fun nonetheless (my first meetup!)

Things that were awesome:
Bruce, the tour bus driver extraordinaire!

The “Awesome/Awkward” blog is off and running!

I want to first of all thank Edwina for the idea and I want to start it off with what is awesome and awkward this week!

I try to categorize these as the way I view them but let’s face it, some things are both awesome and awkward!

Things that are AWESOME:

- I graduate in 4 weeks!!

- I am presenting for NSAC this Saturday in front of industry professionals, my peers and my family.

- I have nothing on my calendar for work tomorrow!

- I have the day off on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from work to prepare for Saturday’s competition.

- I am finally breaking down and buying groceries tomorrow, yay food!

- I only have 28 class periods left EVER!

- I have some pretty great friends that support me and love me. Even if I don’t see them for months, when I see them it’s like we had seen each other yesterday.

Things that are AWKWARD:

- I graduate in 4 weeks!!

- I named the blog “Awkward/Awesome” rather than “Awesome/Awkward”

- I was sick enough to not go to class last week on Wednesday, but not sick enough to go to a doctor…

- I worked less than 10 hours last week.

- Dreamgirls

- Old people kissing

That’s all for now folks! Tune in next week for more Awesome/Awkward things!

Okay, so the song is terrible but it defines my upcoming day and was written by Prince. :)

This is the first time blogging in 2012, and I’m excited to do this everyday. And I’m actually going to push myself to stick to it this time. Everyone I asked to “keep me honest" failed, but it was my fault too so no hard feelings!

Just for funsies (yes, I know it’s not a word), I’m going to start doing a daily Awesome/Awkward post! Shoutout to EDWINA for the idea! She happens to be mostly the former and just a little bit of the latter :)

Things that are Awesome:

  • Making the Dean’s List again this semester :)
  • Champagne, when it is drank in moderation.
  • Having a working tire/car again.
  • Being able to start anew in a new year!
  • Sleeping in today felt well, awesome!
  • My friends.
  • My coworkers

Starting now, I am going to appreciate each of the last three items much more than last year!

Things that are Awkward

  • My last semester of my undergraduate career starts in two weeks…
  • Friendship, at times.
  • New Year’s Eve can be awkward, this year was not luckily, but it definitely can be.
  • Anything political, including commercials and the Republican debates. I have to choose my words wisely as a moderate conservative with fiscal responsibility and being a minority in the College of Liberal Arts at the U of M - Twin Cities.
  • Relationships ending in bars/Bdubs in Mankato right next to me as I’m eating delicious Parmesan Garlic and Medium Sauce buffalo wings. It kind of takes the flavor and fun out of eating them when I am far too close to the conflicted couple for comfort.

"Like" this post for the alliteration at the end. Woo, Goodnight!

Keeping Me Honest!

Anderson Cooper.

Although I dislike him, I think he raises a good point and has good reasoning behind his opinions and responses. (This is a segway, don’t worry this post is not actually about Anderson Cooper). Having said that, I would like to keep myself honest and write a blog post each day. I know this will be difficult to accomplish with school, work, NSAC, AdClub, networking and somewhat of a social life taking moderate to ridiculous amounts of my time. But I’m going to try!

Anyone who is following me on tumblr or Twitter (@chadkluge) feel free to heckle/encourage me to push onward! Writing daily will not only improve my writing skills, but also has been shown to increase creativity and decrease stress! (insert source here).

Since I didn’t really post anything yet in this blog post, here is a poem I wrote for Creative Writing. Enjoy!

"Why do you ask"

If you already know the answer?

Forced nod, imitated understanding

If you don’t listen to the response, then

Why do you ask?

Thinking about an answer, before I’ve finished speaking

Forced smile, feigned enthusiasm

"What did you say?"

Waiting for your turn to speak, instead of listening

Forced word, faked ardency

If you weren’t interested, then

Why did you ask?

Also, shout out to Birthday Boy and future colleague Jordan Benesh! Welcome to the 20s! :)
